Joy Fleischmann says:

When my husband, the sculptor Arthur Fleischmann, died in 1990 I felt compelled to keep his studio "alive". The studio itself had been built for the Victorian sculptor Sir George Frampton whose most famous statue is the bronze of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.
Over the decades many famous people have visited the studio and many have sat for their portrait busts.
After much thought I came up with the notion of holding Life Class sessions, helped by the fact that I had then enrolled for Life Classes at the Royal College of Art.
From a modest beginning with two or three students we now have almost forty "on the books". We come from all walks of life, have different ages and nationalities, and we have a range of abilities, but we all receive inspiration from working amongst my husbands' sculptures which are in turn in various different media and styles.
The models too are a source of inspiration and come from Brazil, Israel, Slovakia, France, Turkey, Russia and India.
This is our first Group Exhibition and the viewer should be aware of the different approaches we have to portray the nude figure.
