This larger than life-size portrait bust of Pope Paul VI was commissioned by the Scots College in Rome in circa 1965. Fleischmann travelled to Rome to model the pontiff from life, and then returned to London to supervise the casting of the sculpture into bronze. This particular sculpture was cast in polyester resin for Fleischmann to keep in his studio.
