We know that it was in November 1855 that Colin Minton Campbell, the nephew of Herbert Minton, visited Marochetti's studio and saw the bust of Queen Victoria, and the group of Prince Alfred with a Pony. The Minton firm then negotiated with the Royal Household and with the artist for permission to reproduce both these and the earlier bust of Prince Albert in Parian Ware. They had already reproduced the statue of Prince Arthur with a Sword, the marble of which is in the Royal Collection.
