Title:
Maronite Monk
Artist: |
Baron Carlo Marochetti
In the sale of his effects held after Marochetti died, under the general heading "plaster casts", lot no.137 is a bust of a Maronite monk, described as "one of the first works of Baron Marochetti". It can probably be assumed that this is the bust in question. It is likely that this work was originally modelled during one of Marochetti's visits to Rome in the mid-1820s.
