Maurizio and Filibert Marochetti - double portrait
Artist: |
Baron Carlo Marochetti
This is a double portrait of Marochetti's sons, Maurizio (b.1837) and Filiberto (b.1838). Maurizio, in the foreground went on to a distinguished diplomatic career, and was also a very talented sculptor, while his younger brother served in the Sardinian navy. This is probably the work which was exhibited as 'Profiles of Two Gentlemen' at the Royal Academy in London in 1851. At this exhibition Marochetti also showed marble busts of Prince Albert and Lady Constance Leveson Gower. |
