This water sculpture was commissioned in 1969 for the entrance of the British Pavilion in Expo 70, Osaka, Japan. It was constructed from twelve sections in London and shipped to Osaka where the sections were assembled around a metal armature. Fleischmann spent 2 months in Japan working on the sculpture.
The commission was finally given by the Central Office of Information on August 8th 1968.
