Description: |
Built by Horatio Walpole, politician, diplomat and younger brother of Sir Robert Walpole, generally regarded as the first Prime Minister. The architect was Thomas Ripley who also worked on Houghton Hall, Sir Robert Walpole's Palladian mansion. It is believed to be Ripley's only surviving major work. The drawing attempts to show the Hall with the staircase (which was demolished in the nineteen century) restored.
