Title:
Queen Victoria
Artist: |
Baron Carlo Marochetti
This is a reduction in bronze of the portrait bust of the Queen, which Marochetti worked on between 1852 and 1854. Original marble versions of the bust are in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace, at Haddo House in Aberdeenshire and in the offices of the Commission du Vieux Paris. This last marble was originally commissioned for the Paris Hôtel de Ville.
Although the firm of Minton issued reductions of the bust in their Parian Ware, as a pendant to Marochetti's bust of Prince Albert, this is the first time that a bronze version has made its appearance. It is unsigned and bears no founder's mark. (for a fuller entry on the bust of Queen Victoria, see the version of it in the Royal Collection)
