The "Young lovers" bronze sculpture with a light green patina has been in the collection of the artist since it was cast in London in the 1960s under his supervision. The original clay was modelled and fired in Sydney, Australia in the 1940s. It was probably one of a series of groups of figures inspired by life on the Sydney beaches. There are many drawings of such groups n the artist's archives.
