Gary Breeze

1966 -

Designer and letter-cutter. He was in Hockley (Essex), and attended Suffolk School of Art (1987) and Norwich School of Art, from which he graduated with an honours degree in graphic design in 1990. He was apprenticed to the letter-cutter and carver, David Holgate (1988-92) and then became an assistant to Richard Kindersley (1992-93). He then set up his own workshop. In 1995 he won a competition to produce a 115ft frieze for the Glasgow Judiciary Buildings. This was completed in 1997. In 1998 Breeze was commissioned by London Carvers and Sculptors to carve an inscription for the Princess of Wales Memorial Temple at Althorp. He was elected a full member of the Letter Exchange in 2001. The following year, his work, Latin Lyrics, was shown at the New Sculpture Park, Roche Court, East Winterslow (Wilts). Breeze lives and works in Kilverstone, Norfolk.
